A block from Le Royal, the Sunway may lack the colonial charm of its pedigreed neighbor, but certainly not the international standards. Part of the Allson International Hotel chain, the Sunway enjoys a great location overlooking Wat Phnom on the northern fringe of downtown. Some of the 152 rooms and suites feature a view of the city's oldest cultural landmark. Modern and spacious rooms lack a real Khmer flavor but are elegantly decorated, featuring minibar, International Direct Dial telephone, satellite TV and large beds that can make it tough to get up in the morning. There's an international newsstand, beauty parlor, gift shop and health club. The only drawback here is the drab view of the northern reaches of the capital from a number of rooms, so ask for a room with a view when you check-in. Try the open kitchen ambiance of the Sun Cafe.
