We give the Pansea high marks for its spacious rooms, convenient location and Khmer influenced architecture. This intimate
boutique hotel opened in central Siem Riep in Fall 2001. The Pansea lacks the historical charm of the Grand D'Angkor but offers the same level of
creature comfort at about half the price. Only a stone's throw from the old market, the Pansea is within easy walking distance of just about everything
you'd care to see in town, including numerous restaurants and bars.
The main building's teak timber frame is particularly impressive. A great place to admire the handiwork is from the second floor open-air bar. The 55
well-appointed guest rooms surround a central courtyard with an inviting swimming pool. Each room boasts a generous 400 square feet of space (45 square meters),
a large whirlpool tub and good natural light from the windows and doors leading to a private balcony. Ask for a room overlooking the river.

Mixed feelings
|
|
This is a beautifully designed hotel and garden. However I think the designers have been given too much freedom because the rooms aren't very comfortable. They
get a lot of noise, on one side from the road and the river, on the other from a building site and a village. There wasn't much hot water and the shower water was
brown. The elegant free-form baths are very difficult for anyone over the age of 20 to get in and out of, and if you have visions of a long soak of aching legs
you'll find it impossible to sit comfortably. The bed is as hard as a log and the beautiful white blinds keep out prying eyes but no light - so it's a 5.30am start
whether you like it or not! Staff were ineffective although sweet.

Great design, shame about the maintenance
|
|
A lovely looking place. Unfortunatly they seem to have cut back on maintenance. The water in the pool was a yellow-green colour and slimy. It took about 10
minutes to get hot water in the shower, and other guests reported brown shower water for 3 days. Extras are v expensive and the hotel is a bit sharp - they charged
us $18 for a hotel car airport pickup but sent a standard hire car. If you want to book be aware that the rooms away from the road get early morning noise from the
village. And currently the Pansea backs onto a building site.

temple resting
|
|
With its lovely pool and linga fountain it is a perfect place to relax in the middle of the day when doing the temple run.
The bathroom is something else and the mass of stone in the bath is a wonder to behold.
Very comfortable could do with a more imaginative local based cuisine but lots of restaurants within cyclo or moto ride.
